Lentinula edodes information
Description
A wood-rotting fungus Lentinula edodes (commonly Shiitake mushroom) is currently the second most mushroom cultivated commercially in the world after Agaricus bisporus (button mushroom). L. edodes also produces a variety of lignocellulolytic enzymes to degrade the major components of wood, which consists of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin.
